Netflix continues to scale back its gaming efforts; Another studio has closed.

Netflix, which is changing its strategy regarding games, continues to close down its in-house studios. The studio that developed the Squid Game game was also affected by these closure decisions.
Netflix, which aimed to become a strong contender in the gaming sector and even made significant investments towards this goal, has recently started to step back in this area. While the company insists it will continue to invest in gaming, it is simultaneously closing its own studios one by one. Indeed, another studio was shut down this week.

The latest studio to be affected by Netflix‘s scaling back of gaming investments was Boss Fight. Boss Fight CEO, David Rippy, announced the studio‘s closure via his LinkedIn page. Yet, the game developed by the studio, Squid Game: Unleashed, was among the most popular games Netflix had released to date.
Although Netflix has closed multiple studios recently, it is not expected to completely abandon the gaming sector. The company might continue to offer new games to its users by collaborating with studios not owned by them or by focusing on lower-budget productions. However, the plan to establish its own studios and develop notable games, which was attempted for a while, seems to have been largely shelved.
